In the efforts to take an active role to minimize the effects of climate change, the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) through its biodiversity conservation arm, One To Tree (OTT) program, has collaborated with Fili - a Filipino brand that aims to shift unconscious habits into sustainable consumption through the creation of meaningful everyday products.

Fili is known for creating sustainable products such as their 100% biodegradable, and eco-friendly mobile cases. Rooted by its advocacy to preserve and care for the environment, the company commits a portion of its sales on planting one tree for every mobile case sold. Through this, Fili was able to plant over 800 bamboos in Bukidnon, Mindanao for the year 2020.

Having the same vision for the environment, Fili and RAFI-OTT partnered for a native tree growing initiative called the FiliTrees Project, whereby one tree will be grown for every mobile case sold. The partnership is dedicated to growing a variety of native fruit bearing and timber trees in Balamban, Cebu.

This three-year project aims to increase forest covers and improve biodiversity by planting and growing native tree seedlings of mixed timber and fruits species like Narra, Langka, Guyabano, Talisay Gubat, Cebu Cinnamon and Cacao. This also aims to empower the partner community by training them on tree growing, monitoring and evaluation, and creating an alternative means of livelihood.

Fili’s biodegradable and eco-friendly mobile cases can be purchased through their website: www.fili.ph, or visit instagram.com/filicaseph  or facebook.com/filicaseph for more details.
